URFA - Emine Şenyaşar, who was prosecuted for allegedly insulting AKP's İbrahim Halil Yıldız, asked the judge, "Who killed my children?"

15 different investigations were launched against Emine for 'insult' based on her words during the sit-in. Five of these investigations turned into a case. The hearing of the case brought against Emine on the grounds that she "insulted" AKP Deputy İbrahim Halil Yıldız, was held at Urfa 4th Criminal Court of First Instance today. While many lawyers attended the hearing, women, representatives of political parties and non-governmental organizations, HDP Urfa Provincial Organization and Urfa Labor and Democracy Platform components also attended the hearing in solidarity with Emine.

Before the hearing started, the president of the court stated that the hearing was an "insult" file and asked not to go beyond this. Thereupon, the family's lawyers objected to the judge's request. Then, at the hearing that started with identification, Emine Şenyaşar, asked by the clerk, "How many children do you have," she replied, "They killed my children and arrested one of them." Then, the accusation was conveyed to Emine through a translator. Stating that she was standing with medication, Emine said, "I had 7 children and they wanted to kill them all. They killed my husband and 2 children in the hospital. My children were murdered in front of my eyes."

Intervention in Emine Şenyaşar's words

The presiding judge intervened, asking Emine to "tell him not the incident but why she insulted him”, Emine rejected the accusation of "insult and slander" and added, "People are not killed in the hospital. They stole medical records. I'm not justifying myself. Who killed my children? What kind of state is this, what kind of government is this?”

'We want an impartial translator'

Then, one of the family's lawyers, Ayşe Şehirban Demirel, said: "Many cases have been opened with allegations of defamation, but there are precedents. The mother's 2 sons and her husband were killed in the hospital. The hospital file has not been opened for 4 years and the evidence is being tried to be blacked out. The family started the Justice Watch, and it has been going on for 557 days. Emine Şenyaşar is exposed to both physical and legal violence during the shift. The family continues their struggle for justice despite obstacles." Saying that the file was opened with only an image, "We want it to be sent to an expert. We want a translator who speaks Kurdish. The translator who does the translation is not enough. He is the prosecutor's clerk and we do not trust his translation. We want an impartial expert translator. We will present the witness who was present in the file on the day of the incident. In the file. deficiencies should be corrected," Ayşe said.

İHD Urfa Branch President Mustafa Vefa pointed that they did not accept the evidence against Emine and stated that there was no criminal element.

Writ request

Hidayet Enmek, one of the family's lawyers, mentioned that there is an investigation into the family's experience in the hospital and said, “Yıldız from AKP is the defendant in this file. We want a writ to be written to the file prosecutor's office. We demand that the indictment be sent to the court regarding İbrahim Yıldız, nephew of AKP Yıldız, who was not caught and had a search regarding the workplace file.”

 Hearing adjourned

After announcing the verdict, the court board postponed the hearing to March 9, when the family started the Justice Watch. The hearing will be held on March 9, 2023.
