AMED - Journalist Safiye Alağaş was released in the first hearing of her trial.

The first hearing of the lawsuit filed against JINNEWS Editor-in-Chief Safiye Alağaş, who was arrested on 16 June 2022 as part of the investigation initiated by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, was held at the Diyarbakır 5th High Criminal Court. Safiye and her lawyer Resul Temur were present at the hearing. Also, Safiye's family attended the hearing, Mesopotamia Women Journalists Platform (MKGP), Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG), Media and Law Studies Association (MLSA), Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) Turkey representative Özgür Teach, Journalists Without Borders (RSF) Turkey Representative Erol Önderoğlu, International Press Institute (IPI) Zeynep Gültekin and her colleagues took their place in the hall for support purposes.

After the defense of Safiye and her lawyers, the court took a short break.

After the break, the court decided to release Safiye.
