General strike in Rojhilat against executions 2025-01-20 15:17:09       NEWS CENTRE - Political parties and parties in Rojhilat decided to hold a general strike in Rojhilat on Wednesday 22 January against the death sentence given to female political prisoners Werîşe Muradî and Pexşan Ezîzî.   Reactions against the confirmation of the death sentence given to Werîşe Mûradî and Pexşan Ezîzî are spreading. In this context, 6 political parties and parties in Rojhilat decided to organise a general strike in Eastern Kurdistan on the 22nd of the month. A joint statement was published on the issue.   The statement made on behalf of 6 political parties and parties is as follows   ‘Patriotic people of Kurdistan   In an environment where there are no political freedoms, unemployment, poverty, lack of services and many other social problems, the Iranian regime, instead of responding to the demands of the people, sentenced dozens of political prisoners to death in Kurdistan and all over Iran.   In such an environment, urgent steps must be taken to stop the death sentence given to Pexşan Ezîzî and Werîşe Mûradî. One of these steps is the declaration of a general strike in Kurdistan.   General strikes as an act of civil disobedience have always been a tradition in Eastern Kurdistan, especially during sensitive periods, and today we are facing one of those sensitive times. The will of public opinion must prevent another tragedy and save the lives of people who have done nothing but love the people and fight for freedom and equality from the death penalty. Undoubtedly, this strike, which imposes itself in a civil and peaceful manner, can once again carry a message to the whole society to take action and protect itself as a ‘Jin Jiyan Azadî’ revolution. This strike is also a voice for the political prisoners who every Tuesday in more than 30 Iranian prisons courageously say ‘No to the death penalty’.   We, the parties and political parties named in this statement, call on all the people of Kurdistan to participate in a general strike in Kurdistan on the 22nd of this month (Wednesday) against the death penalty and against the death sentence against our struggling children. In addition, all workplaces, markets, schools should be closed and in this way show the power of social unity to achieve political and humanitarian goals.   This preventive step is an opportunity to save people's lives. Let us show once again that Kurdistan will not remain silent and will take a strong stand against the inhuman political power.
