Detained women released

ANKARA - Among the women who wanted to make a statement before the trial in which 33 women were tried, those who were battered and detained were released.
 
Before the hearing of 33 women, who were detained and prosecuted for their protest in defense of the Istanbul Convention, to be held at the Ankara 28th Criminal Court of First Instance, the women on trial and the members of the Ankara Women's Platform were battered and detained as a result of the police attack while they were trying to make a press release in front of the courthouse. Eight women, members of the Ankara Women's Platform, who were taken into custody, were released after their procedures at the police station.
 
Lawyer Sevinç Hocaoğulları, who was among those detained, was released, while seven other women were taken to the Ankara Security Branch. The women were released after the procedures at the police station.
The released names are as follows: Buse Üçer, Aysun Gençtanır, Gülçin Polat, Sibel Göktaş, Esma Çağlak, İlay Kadiroğlu and Sıla Yılmaz.
