ANKARA - While Nudem Durak, the artist held in Bayburt Prison, was given a one-month communication penalty for singing songs in Kurdish, the prosecution launched an investigation against the prisoners who are on hunger strike in Sincan Women's Closed Prison.

 

As the indefinite alternating hunger strikes launched on November 27, demanding an end to the aggravated isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the increasing violations of rights in prisons, are approaching the 200th day, rights violations are increased instead of meeting the demands. The political prisoners who held closed meetings with their relatives in Sincan Women's Closed Prison stated that an investigation was launched against them by the prosecutor's office on the grounds that they are on hunger strike. The prisoners stated that they will go to the prosecutor's office to testify as part of the investigation launched on June 15.

 

One month communication penalty for Kurdish song

 

While the violations of rights in prisons were not limited to this, it was learned that the artist Nudem Durak, who was held in Bayburt M-Type Closed Prison for six years and sentenced to 19 years in prison for the songs she sang, was given a one-month communication penalty for singing in Kurdish.
