ŞIRNAK - HDP protested the racist attacks against Kurds in Afyon and Konya with statements they made in Balveren and Cizre.
The attack on seasonal agricultural workers in Afyon and the racist attack on the Diyarbakır family in the Çarıklıköy Neighborhood of Konya's Meram district were protested in Şırnak. Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Şırnak MP Nuran İmir and many party members attended the statement made in Balveren town of the city center.
‘The government should put an end to the polarizing language as soon as possible’
Speaking in a statement made in front of the party building, Balveren Town Co-Mayor Zahide Erk said that the attacks on seasonal agricultural workers and Kurds were not the first. Zahide condemned the attacks and stated: ‘’The AKP-MHP government is responsible for all these attacks. The government should put an end to the polarizing language as soon as possible so that bigger events don’t happen.’’
Another reaction to the racist attack came from Cizre. Speaking in a statement made in front of the HDP Cizre District Building, HDP MP Hüseyin Kaçmaz said: ‘’Due to the polarizing, divisive and hateful language used by the AKP-MHP fascist bloc for our party and the Kurdish people, Kurds are exposed to racist and hate attacks in many parts of the country.’’
‘Racist policies against Kurds have been put into effect’
Reminding the murder of Deniz Poyraz, Hüseyin said: ‘’Our comrade Deniz Poyraz was murdered by the paramilitary forces that emerged as a result of the policies of the government. In recent days, racist policies against Kurds have been put into effect. These attacks will never get result.’’
‘Policy of impunity encourages attackers’
Drawing attention to the policy of ‘impunity’ applied to the aggressors, Hüseyin said: ‘’This policy encourages the attackers. If we fight hand in hand and shoulder to shoulder against these policies, we can bring an end of these racist attacks. For these reasons, we invite everyone to fight against these fascist policies with the HDP and the Kurdish people.’’
