NEWS CENTER - Women have taken over the hunger strike launched in Greece's Lavrio Camp to end the isolation against Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan.

 

The indefinite-alternating hunger strike launched in prisons on November 27, 2020, to protest the isolation against PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and the increasing violations of rights continue. On the 111th day, women took over the action initiated by those staying in Greece's Lavrio Camp. The action continues with the 23rd group.

 

The hunger strike in the camp is led by the Revolutionary Youth Movement (Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger), the Kurdish Women's Movement in Europe (Tevgera Jinên Kurdistan a Ewropa), and Kurdish Cultural Center (Navenda Çanda Kurdistan). 

 

The group of five women, who took over the hunger strike, emphasized in their speeches that the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan means the freedom of women and the Kurdish people, and said that they will continue their struggle in every field until Abdullah Öcalan is free.
