ŞIRNAK - A seminar on "Preventing Child Neglect and Abuse" was held to prevent abuse and raise awareness within the Directorate of Women and Family Services of Silopi Municipality.

 

A seminar on "Preventing Child Neglect and Abuse" was held to prevent child abuse and raise awareness within the Directorate of Women's and Family Services affiliated to Municipality of Silopi under the management of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in Şırnak province. Silopi Municipality Co-Mayor Adalet Fidan Fındık, Director of Women and Family Services Nergiz Ant, psychologist Besna Tokak, HDP Silopi district administration and many women attended the seminar organized in Ahmet Kaya Park.

 

‘Children should be informed’ message

 

In the seminar, the methods of understanding that a child has been neglected, child neglect and abuse, definitions of physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, the reasons why children do not say abuse, and what families should do to protect children from abuse were discussed. It was also emphasized in the seminar that families should inform their children about this issue.

Psychologist Besna Tokak made a presentation on the psychological problems caused by abuse on children. The seminar ended with the discussions and evaluations of the women.
