‘A traditional law was formed and turned into a custom’
Speaking in a statement, Hasan Özgüneş reacted to the plunder of nature in the region and said: ‘’Tree massacre continues in the Besta and Cudi Mountains. The forests in the lands of the citizens, in and around the villages are the forests of our citizens. Our trees are cut down and our nature is destroyed in order for the state both to keep the landowners under pressure and to get unearned income together with the village guards with whom some administrators can cooperate. Currently, fires continue in many areas. 90 percent of these fires occur as a result of artillery fire or operations carried out by the state.’’
‘Take step back’
Stating that the importance given to the West is not given to the region, Hasan said: ‘’Sensitivity is shown for the fires and cuttings in the West. However, when it comes to Kurdistan, state officials are blind to eyes, ears to hear, and their consciences do not ache. We, as the party of this people, as the forces of democracy, do not condescend to any fear and oppression. We will voice our opinions in every place and on the ground against the plunder of our nature and the make desert of our lives. We address to the AKP government; You cannot finish the free Kurd. You cannot finish the values of the Free Kurd. You want to end by destroying the living spaces of the Kurds, but you cannot finish. The Kurdish people are standing tall. We condemn and warn you. Take a step back from what you are doing as soon as possible.’’
The statement ended with the slogan ‘’Xweza jiyane, jiyanê biparêze’’ and a sit-in.
