‘Communication punishment to prisoners who danced the halay’

ANKARA - Karayazı Municipality Co-mayor Melike Göksu and three female prisoners held in Sincan Women’s Closed Prison were given a one-month communication punishment for singing and dancing the halay.
Melike Göksu, Co-mayor of Erzurum’s Karayazı Municipality, who was replaced by a trustee, made a phone call with her family yesterday in Sincan Women’s Closed Prison, where she is arrested. In her conversation, Melike stated that they were given disciplinary punishment for singing and dancing the halay with three of her friends who were in the same room with her a month ago.
Communication punishment is given
Noting that the dancing the halay and the songs they sang were grounds for disciplinary investigation, Melike said that she and three other prisoners were given a one-month communication punishment.
Punishment was also given to Leyla Güven
Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair Leyla Güven and 10 women prisoners held in Elazığ Women’s Closed Prison were given a one-month communication and visitor ban on the grounds that they sang in Kurdish.
