DİYARBAKIR - At the hearing of Ayşe Gökkan, the chief judge had the lawyers battered and forced them out of the hall.
The 22nd hearing of the lawsuit filed against Free Women’s Movement (TJA) Term Spokesperson Ayşe Gökkan on allegations of ‘’being an executive in the terrorist organization’’ and ‘’membership in a terrorist organization’’ was held at Diyarbakır 9th High Criminal Court. While Ayşe and her lawyers were present at the hearing, many women’s organizations also attended the hearing to show solidarity.
Interfering to the lawyers who spoke during the hearing, the chief judge said: ‘’Whatever I say here is what it is. Don’t go beyond your limits.’’ Then the chief judge called the police and instructed them to be thrown out if the lawyers spoke.
After what happened, Nahit Eren, Chairperson of the Diyarbakır Bar Association, and members of the board came to meet with the court, but the chief judge said that he would not listen. Thereupon, the chief judge wanted the lawyers to be forced out by the police. When the lawyers reacted to the situation in the turmoil, the police battered the lawyers and took them out of the hall.
In addition, the participants in the hearing prevented the police from trying to detain Vedat Gökkan, a member of Ayşe’s family.
Upon what happened, Ayşe’s older sister Mihrican Gökkan was taken to the hospital after she felt faint.
The hearing continues with only the lawyers being taken to inside.
