ANKARA - HDP MP Züleyha Gülüm brought the dismissal of Dr. Benan Koyuncu from her job with the decree-law on the agenda of the parliament and asked to Fahrettin Koca: ‘’On what reason was Dr. Benan Koyuncu dismissed from the profession of a doctor?’’
Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul MP Züleyha Gülüm brought the agenda of the parliament of the dismissal of Dr. Benan Koyuncu who is a member of the Ankara Medical Chamber Human Rights Commission and who was working as a specialist doctor in Çankırı State Hospital. Züleyha submitted a parliamentary question to the Presidency of the Assembly with the request of Health Minister Fahrettin Koca to answer.
‘445 health professionals lost their lives during the pandemic process’
In the parliamentary question, it was emphasized that since the State of Emergency was declared in 2016, more than 10,000 health professionals were dismissed from their duties without being given the right to a fair trial. It was stated that during the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic, health professionals were exposed to working under difficult conditions, under great pressure and at the risk of their lifes. In the parliamentary question stated: ‘’445 health professionals lost their lives in this process. While health workers are exposed to all kinds of violence, mobbing and forced to work in unfavorable conditions in the health units where they work, they continue to be dismissed by decree-law, even though it has been three years since the State of Emergency ended.’’
‘The government dismissed health professionals with abstract accusation’
In the parliamentary question, it was pointed out that ‘Article 26 of the Law on Amending Certain Laws and Decree Laws and the temporary Article 35 added to the Decree Law No. 375. In parliamentary question continued as: ‘’Many dismissed persons returned to their duties with a judicial decision after the Constitutional Court canceled the practices regarding security clearances. However, the government dismissed many health professionals on an abstract accusation without any judicial process or administrative investigation. While the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic continues to increase and the leave of health professionals is canceled due to the workload, the dismissal of doctors and health professionals negatively affects the fight against the epidemic and the access of the society to health services.’’
