Hundreds of lawyers from around the world sent letters to the Ministry of Justice to meet with PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is held under severe isolation conditions in İmralı Type F High Security Closed Prison.
Stating that Abdullah Öcalan is seen as the "Mandela of the Kurds" around the world, the lawyers said that they have applied to visit Abdullah Öcalan and other prisoners held in İmralı within the scope of the domestic law of the Republic of Turkey.
It was stated that many representatives of legal organizations will take part as speakers in the press statement that the lawyers will make at the Brussels European Press Club at Rue Froissart 95, 1000 Bruxelles tomorrow regarding their application to the Ministry of Justice and their demands.
The lawyers who will speak at the press conference are: Georges Henri Beauthier of the Paris and Brussels Bar Association, Hélène Debaty, President of Syndicat des Avocats pour la Démocratie-le SAD (Association of Lawyers for Democracy), Selma from the Brussels Network of Advocates for Progress Benkhelifa, Co-Secretary General of the European Union of Lawyers Thomas Schmidt.
