Fight until freedom, not just for one day...

MEXMÛR - Evaluating November 25, Nuran Sezgin, a member of the Ishtar Council Coordination in Mexmur Camp, stated that they planned a series of events and that their struggle will not be limited to this day only, and gave the message: "The struggle will continue until the leadership and all women are liberated."

 

Women in Maxmur Camp have been resisting all kinds of attacks since the first day. Women living in the camp claim their labor and resistance by taking part in councils, academies, cooperatives and all institutions. As November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, approaches, women living in the camp have started their work, actions and activities. This year, the activities in the camp are organized with the slogan "Bi qêrîna jin jiyan azadî dihunin tevna jiyanê" (We weave life with the cry of jin jiyan azadî).

Fight against dictatorship

 

Drawing attention to the date of November 25, Nuran said, “We are in an important month. We're covering this month in two ways. One side is the fight against violence against women and the other is the establishment of the PKK. In 1960, three political activist sisters were tragically murdered in the Dominican Republic. These 3 sisters were first kidnapped, raped and then murdered. However, their murders were made to look like accidents. Everyone knew it was no accident. This emerged as a result of women's struggle and research. As a result of the struggle of women, the dictatorship collapsed. 20 years later, the day the 3 sisters were murdered was accepted as a date. November 25 was declared the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Especially between 1980 and 1999, this was welcomed as a historic day."

 

Attacks are ordinary and not a coincidence

 

Drawing attention to women's struggle against the government, Nuran said: “Although all this time has passed since the murder of the 3 sisters, the male-dominated mentality, system and occupation have not changed. We especially consider the 21st century as the century of women's freedom. A women's revolution took place in the 21st century, its organization grew, and its struggles developed. However, against the development of women's struggles, enemy, occupation and male attacks also increased. These attacks are not ordinary and coincidental. Men are afraid of women's resistance, rebellion, struggle and anger. That's why he increases his attacks. They want to break the will of women. They also approach unethically when they want to break the will of society. For those in power, rape means breaking the will of society. The government wants to destroy society by driving people into drugs and prostitution. However, society is now aware that this was developed by the invading male-dominated mentality.”

 

'An epic struggle is being waged'

 

Referring to the struggle of women in four parts of Kurdistan, Nuran said, “It is important to establish the women's army of the Kurdish Freedom Movement. The Rojava revolution developed with the women's revolution. In Rojhilat, 'jin jiyan azadi' became universal in the person of Jîna Emînî. There is a tremendous resistance of women against the dictatorship and the male-dominated system in four parts of Kurdistan. There is an epic struggle on the mountain, as well as in the fields. There is a struggle of women for the freedom of the leadership, for the freedom of women, and for the freedom of societies. The enemy is afraid of this struggle and wants to create fear in society. Women say we are here and the struggle continues."

 

25 November planning

 

Drawing attention to the events on November 25, Nuran added, “We started the November 25 events under the leadership of the Ishtar Assembly at the Martyr Rüstem Cudi Refugee Camp. Within the scope of the activities, seminars will be given on topics such as what level women should be at, what attitude they should take against the occupation, how they can defend themselves, how they can organize. Seminars will also be given to students. Seminars will be given in the neighborhoods. Free platforms will be created. A mass march will be held on November 25. Again, we will resist and continue our work and struggle, not only on November 25, but every day. Our struggle will continue until our leadership and women's freedom."

 

'Women will liberate leadership'

 

Emphasizing the unity and solidarity of women, Nuran lastly said: “The most important thing is the unity and solidarity of women. If women unite and organize, they can be a force against the male-dominated system, occupation and exploitation. No one can stand against women's power anymore. The stronger women become, the more they educate themselves and fight against the system, the more successful they will be. With the women's revolution and struggle, the freedom of the Leader will be ensured."
