AMED - DBP Amed Provincial Co-Chair Sultan Yaray made a call for an aid campaign for Rojava and added: "We will collect only personal needs such as clothes, shoes, medicines, blankets, food and supplies. We want everyone to support the campaign. They can bring their aid materials to the provincial and district offices of DEM Party and DBP."

Turkey and its Syrian National Army (SMO) launched attacks against Syria and Rojava on 27 November. During these attacks, Hayyet Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) groups continued to attack Minbij and many surrounding villages on 8 December while trying to topple the Assad regime. Many people were killed, injured and displaced in the attacks. In addition, many areas were looted. Aid campaigns were launched to support the displaced. One of these campaigns is being carried out by the Democratic Regions Party (DBP).

DBP Amed Provincial Co-Chair Sultan Yaray made statements about the aid campaign.

‘The gains of the Kurdish people are wanted to be destroyed’

Sultan Yaray stated that the attacks aim to destroy the gains in Rojava and said: "There are intense and violent attacks in Syria and Rojava. The aim of these attacks is to target the gains of the Kurdish people and Kurdish friends. Kurds have paid great prices and fought great struggles there. As a result, a system was declared. In this system, people from all walks of life and races found a place for themselves. Everyone lived together. Different cultures, races and languages came together to form a communal life. This model became an example for the world. Now, however, gangs are attacking both Syria and Rojava. They want to destroy the gains made in Rojava. Rojava and Syria are wanted to face great disasters and be turned into a bloodbath."

Call for support for the campaign

Sultan Yaray emphasised that many people were harmed as a result of the attacks and said that DBP stands by the people of Rojava. Sultan Yaray said, "We started the campaign for both Syrian and Rojava people. In wars, oppressed peoples fall on the roads, lose their homes and lives. They are hungry and thirsty. There are also winter conditions right now and people are miserable. As DBP Amed, we are calling out to all Amed people: Let's lend a helping hand, no matter who it is. Everyone should put their hands on their conscience and help as much as they can. However, our people should know that we will not collect money. We will only collect personal needs such as clothes, shoes, medicines, blankets, food and supplies. We want everyone to support the campaign. They can bring their aid materials to the provincial and district buildings of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) and DBP."
