WAN - Women demanding an end to the isolation of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and the 27-year-long conspiracy called on the parliamentary commission to visit Imrali and hold talks, saying, “If he is not free, we are not free either.”

The international conspiracy against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, which began with his removal from Syria on October 9, 1998, with the cooperation of international powers, has now lasted 27 years and continues today with the isolation policy at Imrali Prison.

Peace Mothers, political parties, and various segments of society are demanding that paths to peace and dialogue with Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan be opened. Women who want the commission established in Parliament to visit Imrali and hold talks are drawing attention to the situation of sick prisoners and pointing out that women cannot be free without Abdullah Öcalan's freedom, and society cannot be free without women's freedom.

‘The parliamentary commission must visit Imrali’

Peace Mother Gozel Erdemli stated that there has been a conspiracy against Abdullah Öcalan for 27 years and that they want it to end. Gozel Erdemli said, “We want peace and brotherhood, and we demand that the process that has begun continue. We want the commission established in Parliament to continue its work on the basis of brotherhood and peace, and we want the commission to go to Imrali and hold talks with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan for peace.”

‘Leadership turned darkness into light’

Peace Mother Asya Özlü also stated that, like all other peoples of the world, they want Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan to be among the Kurdish people, saying, “Mr. Abdullah Öcalan has put this process before us, and the whole world accepts this process. For us, the leadership has turned darkness into light with this process. We must also embrace this process and take steps. As the Kurdish people, we have done our part; we accept Mr. Abdullah Öcalan's conditions. The Turkish state must also do its part. Enough is enough, we cannot get anywhere with death; neither they nor us should die. We want peace to be realized, we want Abdullah Öcalan's freedom. If he is not free, we will not be free either."

‘I walked from Amed to Ankara for freedom’

Seçkin Tunç, from the Payizava (Gürpınar) District Administration of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), stated that a state of civil war has been ongoing for years due to the conspiracy against Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, and emphasized that they want this conspiracy to end. Seçkin Tunç said, "Mothers whose children have fallen to the ground are crying. We want to close the doors to this war that has been going on for centuries, we want this conspiracy to be lifted and to end. We demand that the paths to negotiation be opened and that steps be taken to build a democratic society.

As Mr. Abdullah Öcalan said, society cannot be liberated without the liberation of women. We women and mothers are in the field for the liberation of society. I walked from Amed to Ankara; we no longer want mothers to cry and children to fall to the ground. We want peace for both sides; we want the conspiracy to be lifted and the paths to negotiation to be opened."
