NEWS CENTRE - A petition launched in support of a bill planned to be submitted in the US against Damascus has surpassed 100,000 signatures.
While HTS, DAISH and gangs affiliated with Turkey continue their attacks on Rojava, initiatives against the attacks continue in many countries around the world. On 27 January, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham announced on his social media account that he would submit a bill to Congress called ‘The Save the Kurds Act,’ stating that ‘abandoning the Kurds is a national security disaster.’
This prompted the launch of a campaign calling for sanctions to be imposed on Damascus. Jihan Brifki, Advisor to the Confederation of the American and Canadian Diaspora, launched the campaign with the call: "Regardless of geographical boundaries, it is everyone's responsibility to recognise the threats faced by the Kurdish people and show solidarity. The petition can be signed from anywhere in the world; this allows us to raise our voices and show that we cannot be silenced."
The campaign, launched on Change.org under the title ‘Urge US Senators to support Lindsey Graham’s Save the Kurds Act,’ is ongoing. Over 100,000 people have signed the petition in a short period of time.
