NEWS CENTRE - The siege imposed by gangs on the city centre and countryside of Kobanê directly threatens the lives of approximately 600,000 people. Due to a shortage of medicine, fuel and oxygen, the Eykûr Children's Hospital is at risk of being forced to close.

As HTS, DAISH and gangs affiliated with Turkey continue their siege on Kobanê, a deepening humanitarian crisis is unfolding in the city. The lack of fuel and oxygen poses a vital risk, particularly in the health sector. It is reported that the Eykûr Children's Hospital is at risk of becoming unable to provide services due to fuel and oxygen shortages. While the lives of children receiving treatment at the hospital are at risk, healthcare workers report that access to basic necessities is becoming increasingly difficult.

Baby formula and vital medicines are running out

Due to the siege, there is a serious shortage of baby formula and dialysis medicines used by kidney patients. The interruption in access to medicines needed by chronic patients increases the risk of death.

The food crisis is deepening

Basic food products have run out in many shops across the city. Vegetables are almost impossible to find, worsening the living conditions of approximately 600,000 people living in Kobanê.

Resistance continues despite the siege

Despite all the siege and threats of attack, the people of Kobanê continue their resistance against the siege. The people reiterate their call for humanitarian aid corridors to be opened and for the siege to be lifted.
