QAMISHLO- Reporter of ANF Hêvîdar Hebûn spoke to JINNEWS on liberation of Raqqa.
Fırat News Agency (ANF-Nûçegihana Ajansa Firatê) reporter Hêvîdar Hebûn commented on the liberation of Raqqa from atrocity of Daesh gangs and she said; “The liberation is important for both North Syria and Rojava. The difference of this operation was that Arabs, Kurds, Syriacs, Turkmens and foreign forces came together in the operation.”
‘Many fighters were martyred while trying to rescue the civilians’
Hîvda Hebûn said, “Of course, YPJ and YJŞ fighters played an important role in the operation. The most important thing in this operation was not to harm the civilians while liberating the city and they rescued many civilians. We can say that all people in Raqqa took a part in the war. But Daesh gangs wanted to use the civilians as human shield. Many civilians in Raqqa were captured by Daesh. For this reason, SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) fighters had to take advance slowly. SDF fighters had to be very careful to protect the civilians. Many fighters were martyred while trying to rescue the civilians.”
‘Many journalists were killed while covering the operation to liberate Raqqa’
Recalling that many journalists were killed while covering the operation to liberate Raqqa, Hîvda said, “Our colleagues Mehmet Aksoy, Hogir, Fijaz and Dishis were martyred. Our colleagues were covering the operation and reporting the stories of civilians. I will never forget their self-sacrifices.”
‘Women joined the operation for their freedom’
Hîvda Hebûn continued to talk as follows: “The most important thing in the operation to liberate Raqqa was the power of women. The YPJ fighters took place in the front lines and they played a strategic role in the operation. The women fought for their freedom.”
