Zehra Epli, who was detained during the clashes in Sur and sent to Gebze Closed Prison, set her body on fire on November 7, 2016 to protest the war policies and the arrest of HDP MPs and she ended her life.
Born in the Sason district of Batman province, Zehra Epli was detained two years ago by police during a clash broke out in the Sur district of Diyarbakır while the curfew was imposed on. She was jailed and sent to Gebze Closed Prison. Zehra set her body on fire on November 7, 2016 to protest the war policies and the arrest of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-chairs and MPs on November 4, 2016 and she ended her life.
Dead body of Zehra was sent to the morgue of the Forensic Medicine Institution located in Yenibosna, Istanbul.
Zehra’s family took her body from the morgue and buried her in the Tarsus district of Mersin province.
