‘Freedom’ strike of Peace Mothers continue

İSTANBUL- Peace Mothers, who has joined the hunger strike launched for the freedom of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, Peace Mothers, repeat the words of peace and freedom that they have brought up them repeatedly for many years. Mothers want İmralı’s door to be opened, highlighting that they have been improved by women’s freedom perspectives put forward by Abdullah Öcalan
 
Peace Mothers, who are in front of line with their white cheesecloth on their heads almost in every action, and want peaceful solutions for Kurdish problem, came together for the first time in 1996. Peace Mothers, who go on their ways as ‘initiative’ after arrestment of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan as a result of international conspiracy in 1999, headed towards Ankara for demand of release of Abdullah Öcalan with their white cheesecloth on their heads and roses in their hands. At the entrance of Ankara, encountered with the police barrier, and the action of the mothers has made a tremendous impact. Mothers who have insisted on the demand for peace, participated actively in every action have been made after that day.
 
Peace Mothers, who have launched a hunger strike action against the isolation imposed upon PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, continue to struggle with the same determination. Peace Mothers, who are on hunger strike in Kağıthane district HDP building in İstanbul, continues the resistance with their white cheesecloth on their heads and with freedom folk songs.
 
Peace Mothers says why they are on hunger strike and their demands as follows:
 
Perihan Akbulut: Nobody wants war. The key of peace and solution is İmralı. Abdullah Öcalan is a political will, we do not want bloodshed, we want peace for years, but peace will come with Öcalan. Nobody can stop this power. The world accepted Öcalan's leadership. Our actions will continue untill Abdullah Öcalan is released.
 
Gule Çelik: Öcalan is our leader. We are on the hunger strike for our leader here. I wish everybody would go to İmralı. Ocalan is my leader, I am here for my leader.
 
Aysen Bozkurt: We couldn’t be exist without Öcalan. The isolation on the Kurdish people's leader should be lifted; we want to live in peace.
 
Behiye Demir: I can’t sleep until morning. Thanks to him, we can go out. If he wouldn’t do anything for Kurdish people, we couldn’t even get out of the house.
