DERSİM-Xeyzan, who grew up with the traces of the massacre in 1938 and witnessed the burning village policies of the state in 1980-1990, didn’t leave her village despite everything. Xeyzan, the only woman in the village she lives in, calls children of the families who have to migrate to the city, saying, "Do not be deceived to the city, come back to your village".
The only female lives in the Nurşit (Darlıhan) village, one of the central villages of Dersim, Xeyzan (Hatice is her name on her ID card) is resisting to not leave from her lands despite everything. In the village of 60-year-old, Xeyzan, there is no one but her own family. Xeyzan defines those who are forced to migrate but who do not want to go back then, as "those, who be deceived to the city" and states that she is very sorry for this situation. Xeyzan grew up with what her uncle told her. Xeyzan listened to what happened when the state slaughtered the people, and she criticizes the policies of the state. Stating that hundreds of villages have returned to the ghost villages after forcing people of Dersim to migrate, expresses that this is an extortion operation.
‘Now the generation be deceived by city’
Xeyzan, who also shares with us what her uncle told her, says: "They gathered all people to the square of village and slaughtered them in 1938. Those, who escaped to the forest were killed in the forest. Women lived at that time are not talking about what happened."
Stating that villages weren’t emptied despite the 1938 massacre, Xeyzan said, "Kenan Evren also killed our young people in 80s. Our villages were burned in 90s. People didn’t have any chance, and they had to migrate to the cities. I think, this new generation be deceived by city. For this reason, they don’t come back. “
