ANTEP - Leyla Tuna, the sister of İzzet Turan who wasn’t released from the prison due to the decision of Ministry of Justice as “can stay at the prison” despite the doctor's report against it,  made a call for İzzet and all the other ill prisoners.

 

Despite human rights advocates and demands of families, no step has been taken on the right of prisoner's treatment. Families who have repeatedly applied to the Ministry of Justice for untreated, unmedicated prisoners are met with negative outcomes each time. The family of Izzet Turan, who has been in prison since 1997, has not received any results despite all the applications.

 

Izzet Turan, who was sentenced to life imprisonment and sent to prison at a very young age, has been exiled for six times since his arrest. Lastly, 4 months ago, he was exiled from Diyarbakır D Type Closed Prison to Antep L Type Closed Prison. He also has permanent damages on his body due to the torture he was subjected during the period that he was arrested.

 

‘According to the Ministry he can ‘stay stand up’, then he can stay in prison’

 

Leyla Tuna, who made a call for solidarity for his brother, says that Izzet is living in difficult conditions and the Ministry of justice doesn’t accept the medical reports despite her brother’s illness. “I grew up without seeing him.  When he first entered the prison, he had damages to his body because of the torture he was subjected. Therefore, there is the bone loss, and there is a disease in the chest. He can not handle his life on his own. He covers his needs thanks to his colleagues in the ward. Despite the doctor’s report ‘should be released’, the Ministry of Justice did not accept it. According to the Ministry, he could stay 'in prison' because he could walk, he could stay on his foot. But he barely stay inside. They do not give him his medicines or treat him. They do not even control him properly. " says Leyla, “If they don’t treat him, they can release and we can take care of him. They even take him to doctor with handcuffs. Again, he and his friends were subjected to insults and torture in police wagon when they were exiled 4 months ago.  They can’t get any book or newspaper. They have no hot water and clean water.

 

‘We will resist to the end’

 

Emphasizing that they will fight against these policies and "monotype"  clothing torture, Leyla says "I want all the prisoners to be released, not only my brother. Now they say we will start the ‘monotype’ prisoner clothe implementation.Everyone knows that the prisoners will not wear these clothes.We will resist against that along with the prisoners. In everywhere we will be joining their strikes and we will never stay silent” .
