HATAY- The prisoners held in İskenderun M-type Closed Prison were subjected torture for speaking Kurdish.

 

The prisoners held in the İskenderun M-type Closed Prison sent message through their families and told of torture that they had been subjected to.

 

“Do something immediately against the advanced stage of pressure,” said the prisoners in their message. Underlining that they had been subjected to torture for speaking Kurdish, the prisoners said they were subjected to insult by wardens almost every day. A mother, who had made telephone conservation with her son held in the prison, said, “They couldn’t talk much on the phone but they told us “Go and file a criminal complaint against us”. In the last week, they raided the wards almost every day and they battered them (prisoners). My son called me and told me all prisoners in their ward had been battered for speaking Kurdish. They took three of the prisoners and tortured them.”

 

Family of the prisoner has filed a criminal complaint against prison administration.
