NEWS CENTER - Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's observation, made years ago for the women's freedom struggle, that “you must continue to teach and represent the magic formula of Jin jiyan azadî” has become a philosophy that has spread throughout the world since the murder of Jîna Emînî in 2022 and has been a source of inspiration for all women. 

 

Following the arrest of Kurdish woman Jîna Emînî in Iran on September 13, 2022, and her murder on September 16, 2022, the slogan “Jin jiyan azadî” continues to inspire women's actions and the struggle for freedom. 

 

Today, “Jin jiyan azadî,” which has increasingly become the fundamental slogan of women's actions and struggles and, beyond that, their philosophy, is an ideological and philosophical approach formulated by Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan that establishes women's connection to life and freedom. 

 

The need for a women's revolution

 

Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's assessment of “Jin jiyan azadî” is as follows: "The system has long since lost its chance for reform. What is needed is a ‘women's revolution’ to be carried out in all social spheres. Just as women's slavery is the deepest form of slavery, the women's revolution must be the deepest revolution for freedom and equality. The women's revolution requires the most radical departures in both theory and practice. We are living in a time when life is becoming increasingly meaningless. I will try to explain the importance of aiming for freedom, of locking onto freedom, in order to overcome the meaninglessness of life.

 

Life is impossible without thought, design, and imagination

 

Human life is a complete miracle for those with a developed sense of truth. Life itself is a great source of excitement and enthusiasm. The meaning of the universe is hidden in life. Life means the world of meaning. It means being in a constant state of meaningful beginning with society. Those who cannot decide to live correctly, who cannot decide to be human, cannot speak of acquiring national rights or escaping class oppression and exploitation. In order for women in particular to overcome their meaningless lives, they must aim for an ambitious life that transcends their current situation and commit themselves to freedom. There is no life without thought, design, imagination.

 

Understanding today requires a deep knowledge of history

 

Love must be based on understanding. What is understanding? This is where philosophy comes in. How is philosophy done, how is it learned? For this, one must read a lot of sociology. One must know the history of everything. Sociology must be read from a historical perspective, philosophy from a historical perspective. Everything must be understood through the lens of history. Understanding today requires a deep understanding of history. Companionship and love based on understanding are meaningful. If women can achieve this, then they can be loved as women, as goddesses, as elements of love, and as human beings.

 

You become divine to the extent that you know yourself

 

I have mentioned becoming divine before. This also means knowing yourself. Knowing yourself involves wisdom, competence, and understanding. Women should first know history. They should learn their own history. They should know Neolithic history, sociology, economics, and philosophy. That way, they will know themselves. You become divine to the extent that you know yourself.

 

Women need their Xweda

 

In order for women to be liberated, they must first know themselves. The deeper the fall, the deeper and greater the resistance must be in order to be liberated. Women will belong to themselves, not as their husband's wife or their father's daughter. A woman needs her ‘xweda’. ‘Xweda’ is giving birth to oneself. You too must give birth to yourself again. You are compelled to do so. Because you have no other choice. Neither the geography you live on, nor the risks and problems we face as a society, nor history and time grant us the right to live any other way.

 

The free woman rises like the sun

 

To become Inanna, to become Ishtar, requires understanding and comprehension. In this way, you can overcome social pressure and the oppressive system. The 9,000-year-old woman has fallen. We are trying to raise her up as a free woman. The free woman rises like the sun. The best way to liberate the world of women is for women themselves to use their emotional intelligence and analytical intelligence together. From a woman's perspective, mythology, philosophy, religion, and science must be re-examined, interpreted with original and free female intelligence, and put into practice. Approaching theory and practice with female intelligence can lead more meaningfully to a world that is close to nature, peaceful, libertarian, and egalitarian, and to a life filled with beauty. Women are valuable beings. The words Jin-Jiyan are valuable for this reason.

 

Just as history began as a history of tyranny, war, exploitation, and deceit based on the sexual slavery of women in class-based civilizations, it will be recreated and rewritten as a history of freedom, peace, equality, and truth through women's struggle for freedom and its success. All signs indicate that women's freedom will play a decisive role at the dawn of the new civilization and that a new era of free women can be experienced, but at a higher level.

 

Jin jiyan azadî magic formula

 

You must continue to teach and represent the Jîn-Jîyan-Azadî magic formula. Since human life only has meaning when it is free, wherever life is lived without freedom, it is always a dark dungeon. People whose right to life has been violated, whose years have been stolen, who are caught in the grip of genocide, cannot be that simple. On the contrary, the spirit and consciousness here require a sharp will and memory from head to toe.

 

Whether inside or outside, whether in the womb or at any moment and place in the universe, human life can only be lived socially, freely, equally in diversity, and democratically. Other forms of life are deviant and therefore pathological. Various social discourses and actions, including revolution, are fought for to bring life to the right path and make it healthy. For this, an ethical, aesthetic, philosophical, and scientific mindset and will are formed. The struggle must first be won in the intellectual sphere, that is, in the realm of mindset. A process is unfolding in which the mindset revolution has gained decisive importance.

 

Without broadening the mindset, the struggle for freedom cannot be carried out

 

The mindset revolution refers to the consciousness and belief of a free society. Consciousness is not merely knowing what is happening, but also knowing how to do it. Belief is believing in what one knows and acting accordingly. It expresses the power and determination to implement. Without a thorough understanding of the mindset structures that dominate Middle Eastern society, without distinguishing between aspects that must be overcome and aspects that must be inherited, and without identifying the mindset patterns that must be fought against, it is impossible to wage a correct and competent ideological struggle. Winning the mindset means acquiring the social consciousness and conviction we need to equip ourselves with, through great effort and moral stance. Those who do not expand the world of mentality cannot wage a long-term struggle for freedom.

 

The moment and place where corruption begins is the moment and place where the mind becomes empty and ceases to function.

 

Our policies and actions must always be guided by the light of our minds and the certainty of our moral stance. Otherwise, we cannot escape becoming tools for the political maneuvers of opposing mindsets. A revolution in mindset is essential to overcome and restructure the deadlocked institutions of society. A revolution in mindset is not merely about assimilating and transmitting Western thought. Even in this area, limited developments are eclectic in nature and play no role beyond being a patchwork. Memorizing Western thought cannot make it creative; it will render it unproductive and also hinder possible revolutions in thought. While there are many rote-learning intellectuals, there are no true social scientists. True philosophers, scientists, and intellectuals are nowhere to be found. There is no belief in such a need. The ideological materials of the West have been conveyed even worse. Whether nationalism, liberalism, or socialism, contemporary ideological forms have not gone beyond playing a reactionary role in the Middle Eastern intellectual mindset. It is well known from current practices that the Middle Eastern reality cannot be explained with such templates and has become even more distorted.

 

Traces of the Neolithic period still persist among Kurdish women. However, they have endured the hardships of all civilizational processes. They possess a resilient structure. It is also clear that they have suffered betrayal in this era. When these characteristics are combined with the universal efforts of feminism, a separate women's party can play a major role in the struggle for social freedom, equality, and democracy. PAJK was established to fulfill this role.

 

It is evident how Kurdish women have developed and influenced not only in Kurdistan but also in Turkey, the Middle East, and, with the Rojava Revolution, the world. As a result of women's empowerment and liberation, they have created and will create enormous social and historical consequences. Currently, Kurdish women, under the leadership of the Kurdistan Women's Freedom Movement, have become pioneers for women in the region and around the world. The development of women's freedom and the continuous rise in the level and measure of this freedom, with the impact it has created at this level in the Middle East and the world, particularly in Kurdistan and Turkey, is leading to more intense, deeper, and more comprehensive participation by women in political and social struggles. This situation has begun to overturn the existing social order, social relations, and political system. From now on, this situation will continue to develop and deepen.
