'Kurds deserve recognition'
Martin Schirdewan, Co-Chair of The Left Group in the European Parliament, harshly criticized the EU's support for the Sharar administration. Martin Schirdewan said, “It is unacceptable that this transitional government and its war against the Kurds are financed by European public funds. The Kurds defeated ISIS; they deserve thanks and recognition.”
‘Silence is not neutrality, it is complicity’
Swedish MEP Jonas Sjöstedt drew attention to the attacks against the Kurds, saying, “The Kurds fought against ISIS and Al-Qaeda on behalf of the whole world. Today, they are under brutal attack. Silence is not neutrality; silence is complicity.”

Swedish MEP Evin Incir pointed to the war crimes committed against the Kurds with Turkey’s support, saying that the EU’s €620 million funding commitment was alarming. Evin Incir said, “EU leaders must immediately take steps towards a ceasefire and protect all minorities.”

German Left Party MEP Özlem Alev Demirel harshly criticized the EU and Germany for cozying up to the Sharê administration. Alev Demirel said, “The Kurdish self-administration in Rojava is being targeted. The international community’s silence means consent to these attacks.”

Danish MEP Per Clausen warned that the attacks against the Kurdish minority resemble an ethnic cleansing attempt, stating, “If Europe remains silent, it will be complicit in what is happening.”

German Left Party Co-Chairs Ines Schwerdtner and Jan van Aken, along with foreign policy spokesperson Cansu Özdemir, emphasized that Rojava is a model of hope for the peoples of the region and called on the Federal Government to explicitly condemn the Turkish and Syrian attacks.
Messages of solidarity from France and Switzerland
Mathilde Panot, leader of the Unbowed France (LFI) parliamentary group in France, stated that Rojava must be protected and called on the Paris administration to take urgent action. Swiss MP Fabian Molina said that solidarity with the Kurdish people is a political responsibility.
